Dawn Marie Sherman was born on March 5, 1982, in Marshall, to Dale and Darleen (Mathews) Sherman. Dawn grew up in Marshall until the family moved to Balaton in 1989. She graduated from Balaton High School in 2000. Dawn moved to Pipestone and worked at J&B Meats for a few years, before starting at Edward Jones, where she had been since 2013. Her official job title was senior office administrator, but she was a multi-tasker who kept the place running smoothly.
In her free time, Dawn enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She liked being by the lake laying in the sun, going on motorcycle rides, and attending concerts. Dawn was smart and strong willed (some would say stubborn) and she never backed down from a challenge. She was working on remodeling her house, which meant ripping things apart, then putting it back together and repainting. Dawn was protective of those she loved, always putting others first. Dawn always kept her word. She had a great sense of humor and enjoyed laughing at her own jokes. Dawn liked watching Netflix with her dogs, as well as dancing and performing kitchen karaoke. Dawn loved her two boys with all her heart. She liked playing jokes on them, especially scaring them at Halloween.
Dawn died on Wednesday, October 5, 2022, at the Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD, after an illness. She is survived by her sons Izak and Karter Wixon; mother Darleen Sherman; sister Danielle (Casey) Benson and their child Daxtyn; sister DeziRae (Brad) Steele and their children Lane, Lukas, and Addison; grandma Janice Steinle; her beloved dogs Gus and Chevy; as well as many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her father Dale Sherman and grandparents Virgil Mathews, John Steinle, Wally Sherman, and Charlotte Sherman.
