Memorial Services for Dean Leedom, age 91, of Bella Vista, Arkansas will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, April 29th, 2011 at the St. Theodore’s Episcopal Church in Bella Vista, Arkansas. A graveside service will be held at a later dateat the Marshall City Cemetery. Dean E. Leedom died at Concordia Nursing Home in Bella Vista on Monday, April 11, 2011. He was born on August 5, 1919 in Custer Township, Minnesota, the son of Layton E. Leedom and Vera Pierce Leedom. He grew up in Balaton and Marshall and graduated from Marshall High School. He lived in Worthington, Minnesota, where he owned and operated the Adams Hotel. On August 10, 1941 he was united in marriage to Arlene Nelson in Worthington. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1942 until 1945. The couple moved to Marshall in the spring of 1942 where they resided for many years. He was a partner in the Simons and Gregoire Insurance Agency in Marshall until he retired. He served as an election judge for many local elections. He was a member of the Christ United Presbyterian Church where he served as treasurer for numerous years. He was a member of Delta Masonic Lodge, the Royal Arch Masons, Knight Templar, Marshall Area Shrine Club,Zuhrah Shrine Temple and the Order of the Eastern Star. He was A member of American Legion Post #113 in Marshall, MN. Following the death of Arlene in 1983, Dean married Betty Lang in Marshall. They traveled extensively and lived in both Marshall and Bella Vista, Arkansas until he died. Dean Is survived by his wife, Betty; one daughter, Linda Leedom, of Las Vegas, Nevada; two sons: John “Jack” (Kathryn) of Henderson, Nevada; Gregory of Anaheim, California; one step-son: Philip (Becky) Lang of Bozeman, Montana. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Arlene, his parents, and his sister, Bernice Latham, of Poway, California, formerly of Willmar, Minnesota. Memorials are preferred to the Prairie Home Hospice in Marshall.
