Delbert Lawrance Breyfogle was born on September 5, 1918, in Primghar, IA, to John and Rose (Bird) Breyfogle. He attended school and graduated from High School in Calumet, IA, in 1936. Del farmed with his family in Iowa and later in Southwest Minnesota. On October 8, 1941, he was united in marriage to Elsie Van De Viere. He continued farming until he took a job at the lumber yard in Minneota where he worked until his retirement. Delbert loved gardening and was a blue ribbon winner at the Minneota Iris Show. He enjoyed wood working , fishing, being outdoors and playing cards. Del took great pride in building and maintaining his bird houses. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Delbert died on Wednesday, May 21, 2008, at the Sanford Hospital, Canby Campus.
He is survived by his children Darlyne Breyfogle of St. Leo, Donna Lemcke of Brooten, Delphine Breyfogle (Bill Bergeron) of Tracy, Mel (Kristi) Breyfogle of Taunton, Debra (James) Culshaw of Montgomery, Jason (Sherri) Breyfogle of Scandia, Dee (Timothy) Koppien of Minneota, 30 grandchildren, 47 great-grandchildren, 11 great-great grandchildren, daughter-in-laws Eva and Jan Breyfogle of Taunton, siblings Verdean Nelson, Phillip (Margie), Francis, and Darrell (Martha)Breyfogle, all of Taunton, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Elsie, sons Curtis, Gary and Gregory, two grandsons, two great-grandchildren, two sons-in-law, one daughter-in-law, and six siblings.
