Delbert Jensen age 86 of Westbrook, MN died Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at Sanford-Sioux Valley Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD. Services will be 10:00 AM Saturday, January 12, 2013 at the Grace Lutheran Church in Westbrook. Visitation will be from 5:00 until 7:00 PM Friday, January 11, 2013 at the Almlie Funeral Home in Westbrook, with a prayer service at 7:00 PM and continuing one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Interment will be in the Westbrook Cemetery, with a luncheon served in the church social hall immediately following the burial. The Almlie Funeral Home of Westbrook is handling the arrangements.
Delbert Henry Jensen was born March 17, 1926 to Walter and Stella (Rausenberger) Jensen in Westbrook, MN, Cottonwood County. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and attended Country School District #68. As a young man Delbert farmed with his father, before enlisting in the U.S. Army in May of 1946. He was honorably discharged in September of 1947 and returned to the Westbrook area.
On January 1, 1950 Delbert married Betty Peterson at the Lutheran parsonage in Westbrook. They made their home on a farm northeast of Westbrook until December of 1997 when they moved into Westbrook. A farmer all his life, Delbert enjoyed feeding cattle and the horses he had over the years. He also enjoyed fishing, John Deere tractors, cooking for the boys, and spending time with his family and friends.
He was also active in his church and community. He was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church and served in the past on its church council. Delbert was also a member of the Westbrook Lions Club, and the Westbrook VFW. He served on many boards over the years, including the elevator board and Westbrook Township board.
On Tuesday, January 8, 2013 Delbert died, surrounded by his loving family, at the Sanford-Sioux Valley Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD at the age of 86.
Delbert is survived by his wife, Betty Jensen of Westbrook, MN; two sons, Bruce (Martha) Jensen and Rick (Cindy) Jensen, both of Westbrook, MN; six grandchildren, Jesse (Amanda) Jensen, Nicole (Kelly) Brown, Frankie (Aaron Glander) Jensen, Jacqueline (Todd) Schmidt, Amy (Justin) Swenson, and Ricki Lee (Jonas Molitor) Jensen; eight great grandchildren; one sister, Janet Sundahl of Westbrook, MN; one sister-in-law, Audrey (Marvin) Clayton of Westbrook, MN; nieces, nephews and friends.
His parents preceded him in death.
