Della Viola Van Meveren

Della V. Van Meveren age 90 of Tracy, MN died Friday, May 3, 2013 at the Sanford-Tracy Medical Center. Services will be 11:00 AM Monday, May 6, 2013 at the Almlie Funeral Home in Tracy. Visitation will be from 4:00 until 8:00 PM Sunday, May 5, 2013 at the Almlie Funeral Home, with a prayer service at 7:30 PM and continuing one hour prior to the service on Monday. Interment will be in the Tracy City Cemetery with a luncheon served in the Twin Circle Apartments social hall immediately after the burial. The Almlie Funeral Home of Tracy is handling the arrangements. Della Viola Van Meveren was born March 10, 1923 to Gus Radke and Lillie (Leonard) Benson in Tracy, MN, Lyon County. She was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith and attended Tracy Public Schools. On August 15, 1944 Della married Guy Van Meveren Jr. and they made their home in Tracy. She was a housewife who will be remembered as a great mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Della enjoyed garage sales, watching soap operas, Dog the Bounty Hunter and Dr. Oz on television. She raised flowers, and plants, and enjoyed music by Kenny Rogers. She loved the tomatoes her son brought her in summer. She will always be remembered for being very particular about matching her nail polish and lipstick, clothes and jewelry. A resident of Tracy her whole life, she moved into the Twin Circle Apartments in 2005. On Friday, May 3, 2013 Della died, surrounded by her loving family, at the Sanford-Tracy Area Medical Center at the age of 90. Della is survived by her three sons, Mike (Becky) Van Meveren of Brookings, SD, Les Van Meveren of Tracy, MN and Joe (Rosie) Van Meveren of Lucan, MN; twin daughters, Judy Frechette of Brookings, SD and Julie (David) Cahow of Arco, MN; two sisters, Edna (Dennis Winn) Sater of Seaforth, MN and Judy (Charles Filter) Glass of Tracy, MN; two brothers, Wes (Pat) Radke of Tracy, MN and Charles (Linda) Benson Jr. of Walnut Grove, MN; sister-in-law, Kay Radke of Marion, IA; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Guy Van Meveren Jr., her parents, son, Gary Van Meveren, daughter, Jeanette Zopf, grandson, Chad Van Meveren, granddaughter, Shannon Cahow, and infant great grandson, Darrin Thiner, who was born and died on the same date as Della, four brothers, Harold, Bill, Bud and Bob Radke and two infant siblings, Iona and Arthur Radke.
