Delores died peacefully on Thursday, April 7, 2016, surrounded by her family at Avera Morningside Heights Care Center. She was born in Milwaukee, WI, in 1925 and at the age of one moved to Currie, MN where she grew up and graduated from Tracy High School. Following graduation she moved to Marshall. In 1944 she was united in marriage to Albert Viaene in a double wedding ceremony with his sister. They lived south of Cottonwood where they farmed and raised their nine children. After 56 years on the farm, they retired to Cottonwood and remained there until her health required that she move to Morningside Heights Care Center.
Stevie was active at St. Clothilde Church teaching catechism and was a member of the Altar Rosary Society. She also assisted with Pre-Cana Days and RENEW. She also served as a Diocesan board member for Charismatic and Spiritual Renewal.
She worked with Dr. Eckdale to start a Diabetic Center. She organized several bike-a-thons and educational seminars. Stevie also volunteered as a secretary for the DFL and for the Senior Dining Center in Cottonwood.
Her family was extremely important to her, therefore she spent many hours watching Al pitch softball and rolle bolle contest, as well as attending concerts, games, recitals, horse shows and rodeos of her children and grandchildren. After her children left home, Stevie worked at Toniâs Pizza, Alco and at Holiday Half-Price Store.
She loved playing 500, Pinochle and Bridge and belonged to several card clubs and a bowling league. But most of all she loved when the family would come home for holidays and other special occasions.
Stevie is survived by her children: Pat Schultz (Bob Neuman) of Alexandria; Janet (Dave) Fischer of Brooklyn Park; Jayvee (Jools) Viaene of Bonner Springs, KS; Linda (Len) Frey of Spring, TX; Robert Viaene (Dr. Laurie Hill) of Marshall; Lori (Bob) Van Moer of Marshall; Doris (Roger) Bauman of Monticello, MN; Alan (Melissa) Viaene of Fort Dodge, IA; 17 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, and sister-in-law, Fran Viaene.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Josephine; her in-laws Cyril and Julieanna Viaene, her husband, Albert, and her son, Paul, granddaughter, Shari Ann Schultz, two sisters-in-law and three brothers-in law.
