Devedah Ruth Maranell

Devedah Maranell age 83, formerly of Tracy, MN died Sunday, February 06, 2011 at the Bethesda Heritage Nursing Home in Willmar, MN. Services will be 1:30 PM Thursday, February 10, 2011 at the Almlie Funeral Home in Tracy, MN. Visitation will be on Thursday also, from 11:00 AM until the time of service at 1:30 PM at the Almlie Funeral Home in Tracy. Interment will be in the Tracy City Cemetery in the spring of 2011. A catered luncheon will be served immediately following the service at the funeral home. The Almlie Funeral Home of Tracy is handling the arrangements. Devedah Ruth Maranell was born March 3, 1927 to Just and Mabel (Andersen) Petersen in Wakonda, SD. She was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith and graduated in 1946 from High School in Irene, SD. On September 1, 1947 Devedah married Darrell P. Maranell in Vermillion, SD. Over the years they made their home in various communities in South Dakota, Wisconsin and Minnesota. She came to call Tracy, MN home as she and her husband retired there in the early 1980’s. She moved to an apartment high-rise in Minneapolis, MN for a year, before becoming a resident of the Bethesda Heritage Care Facility in Willmar, MN. Through the years, Devedah worked outside the home in various jobs. She was most proud of her job at Control Data in Cambridge, MN, where she helped manufacture rocket parts that made the first moon landing in 1969. While a part of the Tracy Community she was employed as a librarian at the Tracy Library, worked in the office at Tracy High School, and served as a member of the Tracy City Cemetery Board for many years. Although she was an active person, she took great pride also as a homemaker, wife and mother. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, arts and crafts, traveling, cooking, and will be remembered as an excellent baker. She was also an accomplished artist, who always had a pet or two around the house, and loved spending time with her children and their families. On Sunday, February 6, 2011 Devedah died at the Bethesda Heritage Care Facility in Willmar at the age of 83. Devedah is survived by her four sons, Darwin (Judy) Maranell of Balaton, MN, Doyle (Pamela) Maranell of Litchfield, MN, DeVaughn Maranell of Isanti, MN, and Darren (Debrah) Maranell of Waseca, MN; three daughters, Rechelle (Stephen) Titrud of Willmar, MN, Rosalie (Richard) Haberman of Verndale, MN, and Devedah (Troy) Iverson of Atwater, MN; twenty four grandchildren; many great grandchildren; nieces, nephews and friends. Her husband, Darrell, parents, daughter, Renee, infant twin sons, infant triplets, one sister, Delilah (Ludey) Williams, and one brother, Dewayne preceded her in death.
