In 1941, he moved to Tyler, where he sold advertisements for the local paper. After working there for a few months, he took a job as a linotypist at the Balaton Press Tribune in Balaton. He later went to work at the Marshall Messenger in Marshall. On June 5th, 1947, he was united in marriage to Elizabeth âBettyâ Donahue. To this union were born four children.
