Donald Lewis Knoben was born on August 26, 1923, in Marshall, to Charles and Matilda (Baert) Knoben. He grew up and attended school in Marshall. Donald served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. On September 15, 1946, he was united in marriage to Evelyn Faramia in California. The couple remained in California for ten years before moving to Marshall. Donald worked at a few jobs before beginning a 40 year career with McLaughlin & Schultz Road Construction. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and bowling. Donald was a member of the American Legion and a life-long member of the VFW. Donald moved to the Morningside Heights Care Center in Marshall in June of 2009. He died there on Tuesday, November 24, 2009.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn, of Marshall, daughter Donna (and Douglas)Welsand of Bozeman, MT, granddaughter Julie Welsand of Yelm, WA, brother Gordon (and Betty) Knoben of Puyallup, WA, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers John and Wally and sister, Catherine.
In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Morningside Heights Care Center or Prairie Home Hospice of Marshall.
