Donna Shirley (Rowe) Nielsen was born in September of 1924, in Minneapolis, to Daniel and Bertha (Ehrreich) Rowe. At age 6, she moved with her family to Marshall where she graduated from high school in 1942. On June 19, 1948, she was united in marriage to J. Werner Nielsen. While in high school, Donna took a job as a bookkeeper at the bank. She enjoyed numbers and worked in this capacity for various employers right up until just prior to her death. Donna was a self-taught computer enthusiast later in life. She incorporated computers into her career and social life and taught others to do the same. Donna also enjoyed music and played piano and organ at church. She enjoyed bowling and travelled extensively with her bowling team. Donna was most passionate about her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Donna was a care-giver at work and at home. She is now called to her new home in heaven with God.
Donna died on Sunday, November 23, 2014, at her residence in Marshall, under the care of Prairie Home Hospice.
She is survived by her sons Barry (and Marcia) Nielsen of Denver, CO, Steven W. Nielsen (and Jon Mason) of New York, NY, Dan (and Kathy) Nielsen of Shorewood, MN, grandchildren Shawn, Brian, Scott, Amy, Heather, Ryan, Heidi, Summer, Sarah and Sam, and 23 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband J. Werner and grandson Brian Nielsen.
