Dorothie L. Anderson age 80 of Hutchinson, MN, formerly of Westbrook, MN, died Wednesday, April 29, 2009 at the Burns Manor Nursing Home in Hutchinson. Services will be 1:00 PM Monday, May 4, 2009 at the St. Johnâs Lutheran Church, rural Hutchinson. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until the time of service at the church on Monday. Interment will be in the St. Johnâs Lutheran Cemetery. The Almlie Funeral Home of Westbrook, MN is handling the arrangements.
Dorothie LaVonne Anderson was born October 25, 1928 to Neil and Anna (Knutson) Taarud on a farm in Dovray Township, Murray County, MN. She was baptized on December 2, 1928 and later confirmed in the Lutheran faith. She attended Dovray and Westbrook Public Schools, graduating in 1946 from Westbrook High School.
On September 8, 1948 Dorothie married Dwayne Anderson in Westbrook and they made their home on a farm outside of Westbrook. In 1957 they moved to a farm near Cosmos, MN before moving into Hutchinson, MN in 1968. Dorothie then began working for 3M Corporation in Hutchinson as a Head Analyst, forecasting business and product futures. She retired from 3M after 29 years.
Dorothie was a member of the St. Johnâs Lutheran Church, rural Hutchinson. She enjoyed gardening, knitting, sewing, going to play bingo and the slot machines at the local casino and traveling with her husband during the winters.
In 2004 Dorothie became a resident of the Burns Manor Nursing Home in Hutchinson, where she died Wednesday, April 29, 2009 at the age of 80.
Dorothie is survived by her four sons, Charles (Nancy) Anderson of Rice, MN, Scott Anderson of Brownton, MN, Jerry Anderson of Darwin, MN and Joell Anderson of Hutchinson, MN; eight grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; one brother, Richard (Len) Taarud of San Diego, CA; two sisters-in-law, Beatrice Steen of Worthington, MN and Laura Anderson of Westbrook, MN; nieces, nephews and friends.
Her parents, husband, Dwayne, one brother, Lyle, two sisters and their husbands, Arla (Chet) Chidester and Nina (Arnold) Swenhaugen and two brothers-in-law, Ryan Steen and Wilbert Anderson preceded her in death.
