Dorothy Anna Edmundson, 91, of Lake Wilson, passed away on Wednesday, August 22, 2012 at the Murray County Medical Center in Slayton, MN. Services will be held on 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 25 at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Lake Wilson. Visitation will be from 4:00 â 8:00 p.m., Friday, August 24, 2012 at the Chandler Funeral Chapel, Chandler, MN. Interment will be in the Hillside Cemetery in Lake Wilson, with a luncheon served in the church social hall following the burial. Chandler Funeral Association is handling arrangements.
Dorothy Anna Edmundson was born December 6, 1920 to Albert and Elsa (Ebel) Schoening in Oxford Township, near Rolla, ND. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and attended country school.
On January 18, 1945 Dorothy married John H. Braden in San Francisco, CA. Later that same year, John was killed in action during World War II. Dorothy then returned to the midwest near her family. On December 1, 1948 Dorothy married Herman P. Edmundson at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Lake Wilson, MN and they made their home on a farm north of Lake Wilson. In 1978 they moved into Lake Wilson.
Dorothy was a housewife and mother, who stayed very active in her church and community. She was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran and served in the past as a Sunday School teacher, Alter Guild and chairman of the ELCW. Dorothy was also a member of the Cameron Birthday Club, the Jolly Birthday Club, Lake Wilson American Legion Auxiliary, Lake Wilson Senior Citizens and a past 4-H leader. She enjoyed playing Bingo, Pinochle, fishing, bird watching, flower gardening and especially spending time with her family and friends.
In June of 2005 Dorothy became a resident of the Golden Living Center in Slayton, MN. Recently she became a patient of the Murray County Medical Center in Slayton, where she died Wednesday, August 22, 2012 at the age of 91.
Dorothy is survived by her son, Andrew (Edna) Edmundson of Woodstock, MN; daughter, Beverly Ziemer of Cedar, MN; six grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Carol Schoening of Rolla, ND; brother-in-law, Wes Timmerman of Rolla, ND; nieces, nephews and many friends.
Her husbands, John and Herman, her parents, two daughters, Betty Braden and Marie Edmundson, one son, Herman Jr., son-in-law, Roger Ziemer, two brothers, Leonard and George Schoening, and two sisters, Edith (William) Wilke and Freda Timmerman preceded her in death.
