Dorothy M. Howe age 88 of Tracy, MN died Sunday, April 4, 2010 at the Mercy Medical Center/Northern Iowa Hospital in Mason City, IA. Services will be 11:00 AM Saturday, April 10, 2010 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Tracy. Visitation will be held from 5:00 until 8:00 PM Friday, April 9, 2010 at the Almlie Funeral Home in Tracy, and continuing one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Interment will be in the Tracy City Cemetery. The Almlie Funeral Home of Tracy is handling the arrangements. Dorothy Marion Howe was born September 13, 1921 to William and Martha Schuck in Lamberton, MN, Redwood County. She was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith and attended Lamberton Public Schools, graduating from Lamberton High School. On June 29, 1940 Dorothy married Clarence Howe in Wanda, MN. They lived in Willmar, MN for eighteen months, before moving to the Twin Cities during WWII, where she went to work the Honeywell Corporation in their defense plants. After the war they moved to Tracy, MN where she was a homemaker and mother. She then went to work for the Tracy Nursing Home until her health required her to retire. Dorothy was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Tracy and very active in the church women’s groups, and also taught Sunday School for over thirty years. She enjoyed sewing and was also a member of the Tracy American Legion Auxiliary. In 2005 Dorothy became a resident of the Manly Nursing Home in Manly, IA, to be near her son. On April 4, 2010 Dorothy died at the Mercy Medical Center/Northern Iowa Hospital in Mason City, IA at the age of 88. Dorothy is survived by her one son, Jerry G. Howe of Manly, IA; granddaughter, Sarah (Jeff) Ruley of Eagle Lake, MN; two great granddaughters, Mikella and Karenna; one sister, Ruth Anderson of Tracy, MN; nieces, nephews and friends. Her husband, Clarence, her parents, daughter-in-law, Linda, one brother and one sister preceded her in death.
