Dorothy M. Jenson age 84 of Westbrook, MN died Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at the St. Johnâs Lutheran Home in Springfield, MN. Services will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, February 21, 2014 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Westbrook. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until time of service on Friday, also at the church. Interment will be in the Westbrook Cemetery, with a luncheon served in the church social hall immediately following the burial. The Almlie Funeral Home of Westbrook is handling the arrangements.
Dorothy Mae Jenson was born December 1, 1929 to Robert and Mabel (Furan) Gempler in Tracy, MN, Lyon County. She was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith and attended Tracy Public Schools, graduating from Tracy High School in 1947.
As a young woman she worked as a dental assistant for Dr. Derrickâs dental office in Tracy. On November 7, 1953 Dorothy married Dennis Jenson at Tracy Lutheran Church and they made their home on a farm south of Revere, MN. They then moved their family to a farm north of Westbrook, MN, where their son now resides.
Dorothy was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Westbrook and was active in the past in the church womanâs groups. She also enjoyed all manner of puzzles, especially word search; taking one day bus trips to different places; riding on the four-wheeler with her husband; and fishing on the pontoon; but she especially loved spending time with her children and their families. She will always be lovingly remembered by her family as a great wife, mother and grandmother.
On February 14, 2014 Dorothy became a resident of the St. Johnâs Lutheran Home in Springfield, MN, where she passed away, Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at the age of 84.
Dorothy is survived by her one son, Brian Jenson of Walnut Grove, MN; two daughters, Janet (Rich) Halvorson of Springfield, MN and Lisa (Bill) Hjortaas of Prior Lake, MN; three grandchildren, Jaden Marks, Alexis and Amelia Hjortaas; sister-in-law, Ruth Gempler of Eagan, MN; brother-in-law, Carl Sanquist of Port Orchard, WA; nieces, nephews and friends.
Her husband, Dennis; parents, Robert and Mabel Gempler; sister, Sherry Sanquist; and brother, Ronald Gempler preceded her in death.
