Dorothy Marie (Pistulka) Soupir was born on January 29, 1926, in rural Seaforth. She and her twin sister were the youngest of a family of 10 children born to Anton and Mary (Kramer) Pistulka. She grew up near Seaforth until she and her sister moved to Redwood Falls in order to continue her education and graduate from high school. She obtained her teacherâs degree after high school and taught country school in Underwood Township. On June 10, 1948, she was united in marriage to Charles Soupir in Seaforth. They farmed near Lucan and then Westline Township until retiring in 1982 and moving to Marshall in 1995. Dorothy was very active with her Catholic faith. While a member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Lucan, she sang in the choir, taught CCD and was a member of the Christian Motherâs group. After moving to Marshall, she sang in the Resurrection Choir and attended daily mass as long as she was able. She was also very passionate about her family. She raised 11 children and will be remembered for her cooking, canning, homemade bread and Sunday meals. She also volunteered at the Weiner Memorial Thrift Shop for many years.
Dorothy died on Monday, January 26, 2015, at the Avera Morningside Heights Care Center in Marshall. She is survived by her children Jeffrey (and Sue) Soupir of Milroy, Glen (and Anne) Soupir of Milroy, Mary (and John Jr.) Zwach of Walnut Grove, Jill (and Gary) Schlemmer of Lynd, Gregg (and Lori) Soupir of New London, Paul (and Marlene) Soupir of Milroy, Pam (and Dave) Vipond of Mahnomen, Scott (and Mary) Soupir of Lucan, Michael (and Beth) Soupir of Marshall, Melissa (and Lane Hokanson) Soupir of Chaska, Kurt (and Sara) Soupir of Milroy, 39 grandchildren 25 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, grandson Anthony and her nine siblings.
