Dwight (Whitey) Angrimson

d. January 6, 2011

Dwight “Whitey” Angrimson was born July 22, 1951 to Curtis and Shirley (Ervin) Angrimson in Montevideo, MN. He graduated from Montevideo High School in 1969. He then attended Alex Tech School and graduated in 1972. Dwight worked at various jobs in the Monte area before moving to Marshall to work for the Schwan Food Company in 1982. He won many different awards working for Schwans, but he was most proud of being the top ice cream salesman for many years and continuing to have enough sales to be in the Chairman’s Club. In 1993 Dwight married his best friend Faye Krause. They made their home south of Minneota. In 1995 they purchased the West End Bar in Taunton, MN. Eventually they moved to Marshall and then to Taunton. “Whitey” worked at his jobs like the mailman: rain sleet or snow, he was there. Dwight was a people person and enjoyed meeting everyone, he may not have remembered your name but he knew what you drank. He enjoyed traveling with his wife, he always found an adventure: winning John Travolta dance contests to winning skeet shooting off the back of our ship. He lived life to the fullest from skiing Mount Hood to rafting the jungle of Jamaica. For “Whitey” there was always something new to try. The one thing he had a real passion for was playing cards, any cards, but mainly Buck. Of course pool playing was a close 2nd, he always would joke with the young ones that he would “give someone a lesson.” He played softball until he was 40, and then felt it was time for the younger generation (who could run a little faster). His time lately was spent walking his little buddy Bruster, who was always at his side. “Whitey” is off on a new adventure and we will try to catch up with him when our time here is done. Dwight treated his cancer as he lived his life one step and one day at a time. Who knows what tomorrow will bring? He always kept his head up and fought like a trooper. He passed away at his home on Thursday, January 6, 2011 surrounded by his family. Dwight was preceded in death by his parents, Shirley and Curtis. Those who are grateful to have shared his life are his wife, daughters AngiE (and Ryan) Sussner of Sioux Falls, SD and Becky Nelson (and Nick Esping) of Minneota, Stephanie (and Jason) Andrews of Okabena and Alissa Nelson of Miami, FL, his grandchildren Brittany and Blake Andrews and Landon and Logan Esping. He is also survived by his sisters; Colleen (and Lon) Redel and Lynn (and Marc) Rodeberg of Montevideo, many nieces and nephews and his special pal Bruster. In lieu of flowers memorials can be sent to Dwight’s family to be designated at a later date. Afarewell toast will be given at the West End Bar following services and lunch. Always remember “we do not stop playing because we are old. We grow old because we stop playing.”
