Edith A. DeBlieck age 79 of Tracy, MN died Thursday, February 4, 2010 at the Sanford-Tracy Medical Center in Tracy. Services will be held 10:30 AM Tuesday, February 9, 2010 at St. Maryâs Catholic Church in Tracy. Visitation will be held from 4:00 until 8:00 PM Monday, February 8, 2010 at the Almlie Funeral Home in Tracy, with a rosary at 4:00 PM and a prayer service at 7:00 PM. Interment will be in the Calvary Cemetery in Tracy. The Almlie Funeral Home of Tracy is handling the arrangements.
Edith Ann DeBlieck was born August 27, 1930 to Neal Dow and Anna (Rah) Christensen near Arco, MN, Lincoln County. She was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith and attended Balaton High School, graduating in 1948.
On May 24 1950, Edith married Norman R. DeBlieck in Tracy, MN. Edith was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic faith at St. Maryâs Catholic Church in Tracy. Their first home was east of Garvin, MN where they began to farm. In 1963, they moved near Milroy MN, where they continued farming until their retirement in 1991. Upon retiring they moved to Tracy where they currently reside.
Edith was a member of St Michaelâs Catholic Church in Milroy. She currently was a member of the St. Maryâs Catholic Church in Tracy. Edith was active in the womenâs church groups, having served on Alter and Rosary Society, and participated in the sewing guild. She also was an active member of the Democratic Farm Labor Party and member of the Milroy & Tracy American Legion Auxiliary. Edith enjoyed gardening, canning, fishing, camping, and bird watching. She cherished spending time with her family and friends. She especially loved quality time with her grandchildren on the farm. She also treasured traveling with her husband to Belgium and many other places of interest. They spent winters in Mission, TX for 15 years.
Edith entered her heavenly home on Thursday, February 4, 2010 at Sanford-Tracy Medical Center at the age of 79 years after a short courageous battle of pulmonary fibrosis.
Edith is survived by her husband of 59 years, Norman R. DeBlieck of Tracy, MN; two daughters, Marian (Curtis) Feste of Balaton, MN and Conni (Adam) Lucero of Las Cruces, NM; five sons, Paul (Mary) DeBlieck of Redwood Falls, MN, Keith (Diane) DeBlieck of Marshall, MN, Bruce (Phillis) DeBlieck of Willmar, MN, Lee (Sharon) DeBlieck of Marshall, MN and Wayne (Liz) DeBlieck of Granite Falls MN; nineteen grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; and many friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, N. Dow and Anna Christensen, two infant children, Cleone and Thomas, two brothers, Gordon and Donald Christensen, and one sister, Donna Swanson.
