Edith Anderson, Klein Schmidt

Edith Schmidt age 79, formerly of Tracy, MN, died Sunday, July 22, 2012 at the Waconia Good Samaritan Home in Waconia, MN. Services will be 1:30 PM Thursday, July 26, 2012 at Tracy Lutheran Church. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. Interment will be in the Tracy City Cemetery, with a luncheon to follow in the church social hall. The Almlie Funeral Home of Tracy is handling the arrangements. Edith Louise Schmidt was born on May 28, 1933 to Theodore (Ted) and Clara (Rykhus) Anderson in Tracy, Minnesota. She was baptized and confirmed at Tracy Lutheran Church. She attended and graduated from Tracy Public Schools in 1951. On July 9, 1951, Edith married Wm. Dale Klein at Tracy Lutheran Church and together they had four children. They made their home in Tracy where Edith was employed as a pharmacy technician at John’s Drug. On September 21, 1986, she married Loren Schmidt at Tracy Lutheran Church and they moved to Springfield, MN. Edith played the organ for services in Springfield at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and St. John’s Nursing Home. She also played organ for services in San Felipe, Mexico when at her vacation home over the winter. She was a member of Tracy Lutheran Church while living in Tracy and St. Paul’s Lutheran Church when she moved to Springfield. Edith enjoyed gardening, crocheting, sewing, reading, playing music, loved traveling to Mexico for the winters, and spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. On July 22, 2012, Edith passed away at Good Samaritan Home in Waconia, MN at the age of 79 and was surrounded by her loving family. Edith is survived by her husband, Loren; four children, Debra (Duane) Helleson of Faribault, MN, Kathryn Klein of Savage, MN, Dale (Brenda) Klein of Paynesville, MN, and Ted (Leslie) Klein of St. Bonifacius, MN; seven grandchildren, Brent (Michaela) Ohlemann, Paige (Dan) Mullin, Kyle Ohlemann, Ryan Klein, Logan Klein, Evan Klein, and Chelsea Klein; 6 great-grandchildren; one brother, Donald Anderson of Cheney, WA; one sister, Carolyn (Don) Engelkes of Tracy; step-children, Kathy Fodness and step-granddaughter, Kelly of CO, Paul Schmidt of UT, and Gary (Jan) Schmidt of MD. Edith was preceded in death by her parents, brother Tom, and two infant grandchildren, Brandon and Justin. Blessed be her memory.
