Edward Anton Swedzinski was born on November 1, 1927, in Lincoln County, to Anton and Frances (Lozinski) Swedzinski. He was baptized at St. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church in Taunton and served Mass there for many years. Ed graduated from Minneota High School in 1945 and entered the U.S. Naval Academy at the University of Virginia. He and Lorraine Maeyaert were married at St. Eloi Catholic Church on October 19, 1948. The couple farmed and raised their family in the Taunton area until moving to Minneota in 1975. At that time, Ed worked with McLaughlin & Schultz Road Construction until retirement. Ed loved to hunt, fish, shop, cook, tell stories and jokes and take his dog for rides.
He died on Tuesday, June 8, 2010 at the Golden Living Center in Slayton. Survivors include his wife, Lorraine, of Minneota, children Paul of Minneota, Mark of Sioux Falls, SD, Kathryn of Minneota, five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, brothers Richard, Marvin, Robert, David and James of the Twin Cities area and sister Irene Rupp of Granite Falls, and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandson Luke, brother Ray, sister Lorraine and daughter-in-law Susan.
