Edwin Dirckx

d. October 10, 2012

Edwin Jules was born on January 6, 1926 to Jules and Sophie (Loke) Dirckx in Amiret. After graduating from Marshall High School in 1943, Edwin joined the United States Navy, proudly serving our country during WWII. After his tour, he came back to Marshall and was united in marriage to Louise Spitzer at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church; the couple recently celebrated 66 years together. Edwin made a 34 year career of carrying mail for the United States Postal Service. Edwin’s passions were hunting and fishing. He hunted all of his life; even deer hunting last fall at the age of 85. He spent many hours on lakes Ida and Pickerel. He loved to watch football. Above all he always put family first. Edwin died on Wednesday, October 10, 2012 at Morningside Care Center in Marshall with his family by his side. His smile that could light up a room will be sadly missed by his wife, Louise; children, Sharon (Jim) Babel of Glenwood, Paulette (Pat) Dero of Lynd, Becky (John) Smith of McKinney, TX, Deb (Dave) Stene of Sioux Falls, SD, Cindy (Mike) Welu of Milroy; sisters, Shirlee Bailey of Marshall, Gerri Kerkvliet of Bryant, SD; sister-in-law, Jean Dirckx; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Fran Dirckx.
