Mass of Christian Burial for Edwin “Ed” Groebner, 85, of Tracy, formerly of Milroy, will be Wednesday, July 12, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Milroy. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at church. Interment with military honors will follow at St. Michael’s Catholic Cemtery in Milroy.
Edwin “Ed” Joseph Groebner was born on September 10, 1937, in New Ulm, to Henry and Wilhelmina “Minnie” (Sellner) Groebner. He graduated from Milroy High School in 1956. Ed served in the Army National Guard from 1955-1964. He was a member of the Marshall Eagles Club for 49 years and the Milroy American Legion for 34 years. He was also a lifelong member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Milroy. Ed worked road construction for many years, and he enjoyed traveling around the country on his time off in the winters. His final job before retirement was at the Beet Factory in Renville. In his free time, Ed enjoyed fishing and going to flea markets.
Ed died on Thursday, July 6, 2023, at the Prairie Home Hospice McLaughlin House in Marshall. He is survived by his brother Joseph Groebner, sister Veronica Groebner, brother-in-law Francis Overend, sister-in-law Donna Groebner, his nieces and nephew, as well as other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Tony and Norbert, and sisters Mary and Martha.
