Eileen Georgina (Grewing) Hoflock was born on December 19, 1924, in Redwood County to Albert and Elza (Thiel) Grewing. She grew up in rural Vesta. On February 4, 1948, Eileen was united in marriage to Gerard Hoflock. The couple farmed near Marshall for a few years before settling in rural Vesta. Eileen ran the café in Vesta for a few years in the early 1970s. She resided in Vesta until moving to River Hills assisted living in Cambridge and later the Morning Side Heights Nursing Home in Marshall. Eileen enjoyed outdoor work including gardening and lawn care. She also enjoyed camping and fishing, doing puzzles, and picking up pop cans with her grandchildren.
Eileen passed away on Tuesday, July 7, 2009, at the Morningside Heights Care Center in Marshall. She is survived by her children Tom (and Kelly) Hoflock of Vesta, Pat Meyer of St. Francis, Cathy (and Dan) Beebout of Milroy, Alan (and Carol) Hoflock of Sarasota, FL, 15 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and sister-in-law Annie Marcotte of Marshall. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Gerard and two brothers.
