Mass of Christian Burial for Elaine Marie Boncquet, 83, formerly of Ghent, will be at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, July 25, 2011, at St. Eloi Catholic Church in Ghent. Visitation will be Sunday from 4:00 p.m. â 8:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. at Rehkamp â Horvath Funeral Home in Marshall. Visitation will continue on Monday from 8:00 a.m. â 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow the service at St. Eloi Catholic Cemetery in Ghent.
Elaine Marie (Duthoy) Boncquet was born on November 29, 1927, in Marshall, to Quirin and Irene (Van Overbeke) Duthoy. She grew up in Ghent, attended St. Eloi Catholic School in Ghent and graduated from Minneota High School. On April 14, 1948, she was united in marriage to Lawrence DeSutter. The couple raised their family in Ghent. For 14 years, Elaine was the primary caregiver to Lawrence as he suffered with Multiple Sclerosis. After Lawrenceâs death, Elaine later married Henry Boncquet in Ghent. In addition to raising her family and caring for her spouses, Elaine worked for the Physical Therapy Department at Weiner Memorial Hospital in Marshall, the Butcher Block in Marshall and later worked as a cook at St. Eloi Catholic School in Ghent. She enjoyed ceramics and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Elaine was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Ghent and the St. Eloi Altar Society.
She died on Thursday, July 21, 2011, at the Prairie Home Hospice House in Marshall. She was survived by her children Connie (and Vic) Erlacher of Arlington, SD, Andrea Smith of Marshall, Mary (DePestel) (and Peter) Kurr of Ghent, Gin (and Jim) Madigan of Founatin Hills, AZ, Carol (and Ron) Sumstad of Alexandria, MN, Kathy (and Gary) Janssen of Oxford, OH, Janet (and Merv) Windey of Marshall, 14 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, sister Evelyn Andries; sisters-in-law Mary Ann Duthoy and Marge Duthoy, other extended family including nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands Lawrence and Henry, two brothers and one brother-in-law.
