Elaine Nemmers

Elaine Walleen Nemmers was born January 22, 1918 in Olivia, MN to Lloyd and Hulda (Eckwall) Walleen. She was a country school teacher in rural Olivia until her marriage to George Nemmers on April 11, 1942. They lived in Bird Island until 1961 when they moved to Appleton, MN. She moved to Marshall, MN in 1994. Elaine loved her family, enjoyed cooking, playing bridge, and reading. She will be greatly missed. Elaine passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Saturday, March 21, 2009, at the Avera Marshall Regional Medical Center in Marshall. Elaine is survived by her daughters Judy (Jim) Johnson and Barb Nemmers, and son Bob (Kathy) Nemmers; grandchildren Jennifer (Josh) Tormorn, Erica Johnson, Brian Nemmers, and Scott Nemmers; great-grandchildren Lindsey Melchior, Jake Tormoen, and Zack Tormoen. She was preceded in death by her husband George, son Tommy, her parents, two brothers and three sisters. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to the Marshall Lyon County Library.
