Elda B. Giese age 92 of Tracy, MN died Thursday, May 19, 2011 at the Sanford-Tracy Area Medical Center. Services will be 11:00 AM Monday, May 23, 2011 at Tracy Lutheran Church. Visitation will be from 4:00 until 8:00 PM Sunday, May 22, 2011 at the Almlie Funeral Home in Tracy, with a prayer service at 7:00 PM. Interment will be in the Tracy City Cemetery. The Almlie Funeral Home of Tracy is handling the arrangements.
Elda Bernice Giese was born August 2, 1918 to Alfred and Bessie (Osmundson) Jensen on the family farm near Vesta, MN, Redwood County. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and attended country school.
On June 5, 1938 Elda married Harold Giese on her parentâs farm and they made their home on Giese family farm. They continued to live there until their retirement in October of 1964, when they moved into Tracy. Elda worked for the Gullicksonâs Neon Inn and also the Old Tracy Hospital as a cook, before working as a cook at the Red Rooster Café for 32 years.
She was a member of Tracy Lutheran Church and over the years had been active in her Circle and other church womenâs activities. Elda also was a member of the Tracy Flower Club, Birthday Club, the Tracy Senior Center and various card clubs. She enjoyed growing flowers, bowling, playing cards, cooking and baking, of which she will fondly be remembered for her Peanut Butter Pie recipe that was featured in Millieâs Favorites, a local cook book.
In January of 2002, Elda moved into the Twin Circle Apartments in Tracy and enjoyed her many years there. On Thursday, May 19, 2011 Elda died, surrounded by her loving family, at the Sanford-Tracy Area Medical Center at the age of 92.
Elda is survived by her three sons, Wayne (Dorie) Giese of Palmyra, WI, Dennis (Jo) Giese of Yankton, SD and Michael Giese of Tracy, MN; son-in-law, Jerry Jones of Minnetonka, MN; seven grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Roxanne Jensen of Hutchinson, MN; nieces, nephews and friends.
Her husband, Harold, daughter, Muriel Jones, her parents, one brother, Derwin âBudâ Jensen, and three sisters, Neva (Clifford) Scott, Verna (Ray) Giese, and Betty Schueller preceded her in death.
