Eldoris (Elly) Swedzinski

Eldoris Dorothy Swedzinski was born on November 12, 1929, in Alta Vista Township to Edward and Myrtie (Kozowski) Van Den Broeke. She grew up on the family farm and graduated from Minneota High School. On September 7, 1954, she was united in marriage to Frank Swedzinski. The couple farmed and raised their family in rural Porter. In her spare time, Elly worked as a housekeeper at Divine Providence Nursing Home in Ivanhoe. Elly enjoyed playing bridge, doing puzzles and spending time outdoors. She was an avid reader and really enjoyed a good cup of coffee. She was most passionate about being a mom and looked forward to spending time with her family. Elly was an active member of Sts. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church. She belonged to the Council of Catholic Women, she sang in the choir, and she taught CCD to the second graders. Elly also belonged to the Lyon Lincoln County Extension Club. Elly lived at the Sylvan Court, Sanford Canby Nursing Home in Canby. Elly died on Monday, February 14, 2011, at Sylvan Court. She is survived by her husband, Frank, of rural Porter, children John of Porter, Mary Alyce Swedzinski of East Hampton, CT, Kate (Fred) Ganter of Cuba City, WI, Greg (and Julie) of rural Porter, Beth McMahon of Manteca California, William of Ivanhoe, Todd (and Darla) of Montevideo, 11 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, sisters Ione Engels of Ivanhoe, Isabelle Fier of Canby, Velma Vanderstyn of California, brothers Leonard (and Kim) Van Den Broeke and Ernest Van Den Broeke, all of California, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents.
