Eleanor was born on November 28, 1917 in Ivanhoe, MN. She was baptized as Sophia Eleanor Sovell at Wilno, MN. Eleanor lived with her parents, Nicholas and Helen Sovell, on a farm near Wilno until the family moved to Marshall. She married Willis DeAustin on August 22, 1938 and made their home in Marshall where they had six children. Eleanor enjoyed fishing, playing cards, arts and crafts, cooking (great pies), gardening and spending time with her family. She loved camping and fishing at Lake Gilchrist with the family, and could she clean fish! She especially loved being with her grandchildren. Eleanor died on Friday, November 5, 2010, at the Avera Morningside Heights in Marshall. Eleanor is survived by five of her children, Valorie (Jack) DeAustin Coleman of Ankeny, Iowa, Gary of Bloomington, MN, Bob (Jane) of Sauk Rapids, MN, Donald (Terri) of Woodstock, GA, and Mark (Renee) of Marshall. She is also survived by her 16 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-granddaughter; and her sisters Darlene Deutz of Marshall and Audrey Paradis of Winsted, MN; and her daughter-in-law Mary DeAustin of Marshall. Eleanor was preceded in death by her husband, Willis (Frenchy) and her eldest son, Larry; and her siblings Francis, Cecelia, Dorothy, Walt, Max and Ted. In lieu of flowers, a memorial may be made in her name to “Alzheimer’s Association”. Blessed be the memory of Eleanor DeAustin.
