Eleanor Hedwig (Petrowski) was born April 12, 1916 to Joseph and Ann (Malinowski) Petrowski in Pennsylvania. After her father passed away, Eleanorâs mother brought her to Minnesota at the age of three. After completing cosmetology school in Minneapolis, Eleanor opened her own beauty shop in Minneota where she enjoyed spending time interacting with her customers. Eleanor married Edward Finnegan October 14, 1940 at St.âs Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church in Taunton. Eleanor would later join Ed at Finneganâs Super Valu where she helped grow the family business. Together, the couple taught their children how to work hard, enjoy life with good friends and family and to live life to the fullest. She enjoyed spending time with her friends and family, whether it was playing cards, gambling, golfing, baking, bowling, stitching or many other activities.
After a full life of 97 years, Eleanor peacefully died May 14, 2013 at the Minneota Manor Nursing Home in Minneota with family by her side.
Her fun loving spirit will be missed by her children, Edward (Ronette) of Minneota, Maureen Hogan of Holland, MI, Patricia (Mike) Allmann of Battle Lake, Carol (Bob) Wegner of Willmar, Rosemarie Finnegan of Plymouth; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.
She was preceded in death her by parents; husband, Edward; son, Jeffrey; and three sisters, Sophie, Delores and Clara; and many other family and friends.
The family would like to express their appreciation for the special care Prairie Home Hospice and the Minneota Nursing Home provided for their mother. Memorial donations preferred to either Prairie Home Hospice or St. Edward Catholic School in Minneota.
