Elizabeth died Sunday, May 18, 2008 at the Prairie Home Hospice House in Marshall.
Elizabeth D. Marks was born on August 2, 1921 at Marshall, Minnesota to Paul and Isabel (Skierecki) DePover. She attended school in Marshall and graduated from Marshall High School in 1939, then graduating from Winona State in June, 1943, with a B.S. degree in Elementary Education.
On December 22, 1942, Elizabeth married Edward H. Marks Jr. at Holy Redeemer. After the end of the war, they made their home in Marshall. They raised their two children and retired in 1982. During their retirement, they enjoyed traveling, golfing and spending winters in South Padre Island, Texas. After her husband was diagnosed with Alzheimerâs, Elizabeth cared for him until his death in 1992.
She was a wonderful and loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She enjoyed playing bridge and being with her grandchildren. She volunteered at the Avera Hospital Thrift Shop and was a member of the Hospital Auxiliary and a long time member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Her sense of humor and clarity of mind were with her until the end. She will be missed by us all.
Survivors include a son, Edward H. Marks III of Woodbury; a daughter, Elizabeth Marks of Maple Grove; grandson, Ted Marks of Excelsior; granddaughters Jill Molina of Brooklyn Park and Katie Carlson of Maple Grove. She was preceded in death by her husband and parents.
The family expresses deep gratitude to Elizabethâs healthcare providers and caregivers. Memorials preferred to Prairie Home Hospice of Marshall.
