Elsine Marie Thomsen

Elsine M. Thomsen age 98 of Westbrook, MN died Friday, August 8, 2008 at the Good Samaritan Center in Jackson, MN. Services will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, August 13, 2008 at the Almlie Funeral Home in Westbrook, MN. Visitation will be from 9:00 until 11:00 AM Wednesday prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be at the Westbrook Cemetery. Elsine Marie Thomsen was born December 2, 1909 to Thomas and Maren Thomsen in Bode, IA. Elsie moved to Westbrook, MN with her parents as a very young girl, where she attended country school. Elsie remained on the family farm located three miles north of Westbrook to assist her sister, Karen and her husband, W. H. Brown, raise their children and maintain the homestead. She also spent made many trips over the years back to Iowa to assist relatives in times of need. In 1972, Elsine retired into Westbrook, where she attended the Baptist Church her whole life. In 2003 she and her sister relocated to Jackson, MN to an apartment. In May of 2005, she became a resident of the Jackson Good Samaritan Center where she remained until her death at the age of 98. Elsine is survived by her sister, Karen Brown of Jackson, MN; one nephew, Robert W. (Cathie) Brown of Jackson, MN; two nieces, Beverly (Darvin) Johnson of Slayton, MN and Barbara (Brad) Perkins of Jackson, MN; ten great nieces; twelve great-great nieces and nephews; and many extended family in Iowa. Her parents, brother-in-law, W. H. Brown, and one nephew, Kenneth L. Brown preceded her in death. The Almlie Funeral Home of Westbrook is handling the arrangements.
