Elwood Loren âWoodyâ Hanson was born on September 8, 1939, in Marshall, to Clarence and Ella (Ormberg) Hanson. He grew up in Marshall and graduated from Marshall High School in 1957. Woody started his career in 1956 at the Starlite Drive-In Theater. Later he worked in the projection booth at the Marshall Theater. He was hired as manager in 1962 and retired from the Marshall 6 Theaters on June 14, 2007. After his retirement, he drove bus for Southwest Coaches. Woody was passionate about cars. He enjoyed buying, repairing and selling vehicles. He also enjoyed collecting cars he had owned when he was younger and going to car shows. Woody was a member of Shades of the Past Car Club.
Woody died on Tuesday, August 07, 2012, at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD, as the result of pulmonary heart disease. He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann, of Marshall, son Jerry and granddaughters Reagan, Hope and Brittnee, sister Cheryl (and Jerry) Haas of Marshall and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his son, Jay, and his parents.
