Emerence Marie (Bot) Derynck was born on January 19, 1933, in Grandview Township, to Charles and Elizabeth (Brewers) Bot. She grew up and attended grade school in Ghent. Emerence then attended and graduated from High School in Grand Rapids, Michigan. On February 1, 1956, she was united in marriage to Roland âMikeâ Derynck at St. Eloi Catholic Church in Ghent. The couple farmed and raised their family in the Ghent area until they moved to Marshall in 1982. After the move, Emerence began working as a cook at Holy Redeemer School. While in rural Ghent, Emerence was the organist at St. Eloi Catholic Church for 33 years. She enjoyed gardening,playing cards, fishing, needle work and other arts and crafts. Emerence also greatly enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She died on Saturday, November 17, 2007, at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD, shortly after a surgical procedure. Emerence is survived by her children Jean (Dave) Kimpe of Minneota, Carol Przymus of Minneota, Jim (Arleen) of Rochester, Keith (Cheryl) of Mankato, Gary (Dodie) of Minneota, Dale (Karla) of Sioux Falls, SD, Greg (Cheri) of Bruce, SD, 18 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, siblings Richard, Raymond, Florence, Arnie, Vince (Judy) and Fran (Joan), and many, many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, infant brother Norbert and brother Bernard.
