Emil Theodore Goossens was born on November 27, 1920, on a farm in Grandview Township, to Cyriel and Zulma (Dero) Goossens. Both of his parents came from Belgium. Emil was baptized on November 29, 1920, in St. Eloi Catholic Church. He was united in marriage to Louise De Wulf on September 7, 1943 at St. Eloi Catholic Church.
