Erwin A. Comnick age 80 of Westbrook, MN died Tuesday, March 25, 2008 at the Westbrook Good Samaritan Center. Services will be 10:30 AM Saturday, March 29, 2008 at the Grace Lutheran Church in Westbrook. Visitation will be from 4:00 until 8:00 PM Friday, March 28, 2008 at the Almlie Funeral Home in Westbrook, with a prayer service at 7:30 PM and continuing one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Interment will be at the Rosehill Cemetery. The Almlie Funeral Home of Westbrook is handling the arrangements.
Erwin Albert Comnick was born December 26, 1927 to Albert and Anna (Rachuy) Comnick on a farm in Des Moines River Township, Murray County, MN. He was baptized on January 15, 1928 and confirmed on July 12, 1942. He attended Country School District #51 and as a young man farmed with his family. While very young he moved with his family to Rosehill Township, MN.
On September 26, 1950 Erwin enlisted in the US Army and was assigned to Fort Knox, KY. He also served in a Military Police Company at Sandia Base, Albuquerque, NM and at the Kolleen Base in Kolleen, TX. He received his honorable discharge in September 1952 and then returned to the family farm where he resided until 1956, when he moved into Westbrook, MN.
He farmed along with his brother and his two nephews and worked as a carpenter for many years with them as well. Erv was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church in Westbrook where over the years he has served as a member of the church council and building committee. He was also a member of the Westbrook American Legion and current Commander. Erv enjoyed hunting, farming and woodworking.
In November of 2007, Erv became a resident of the Valley View Nursing Home in Lamberton before moving into the Good Samaritan Center in Westbrook on January 31, 2008. On Tuesday, March 25, 2008 Erwin died at the Good Samaritan Center at the age of 80.
Erwin is survived by three sisters, Leora (Clarence) Hass of Westbrook, MN, Myrna ( Quentin) Carlson of White Bear Lake ,MN and Annette (Leon) Mischke of Westbrook, MN; one sister-in-law, Coralyn Comnick of Westbrook, MN; many nieces, nephews and friends and special friend, Virginia Schneider of Westbrook, MN.
His parents, brother, Ronald Comnick and an infant brother, preceded him in death.
