Esther Mary McLaughlin

Esther Mary Boulton was born on October 31, 1918, in Rural Porter to Joseph and Elizabeth (Moorse) Boulton. She grew up on the family farm, attended rural school through 8th grade and graduated from Canby High School. Esther was baptized, confirmed, and received first communion at St. Edward Catholic Church in Minneota. In 1942, she was married to Irvin Schrunk. To this union were born five children; John, Janet, Kathy, Sandra and Tom. After Irvin’s death, Esther worked at the JC Penny’s store in Marshall. In 1961, she was united in marriage to Jack McLaughlin in Marshall. The couple had one daughter, Kellie. Esther enjoyed traveling with her husband especially to Phoenix, Florida, Las Vegas, and spending summer time at Maple Lake. She also enjoyed spending time with her friends, especially coffee time with the North 5th St coffee group. Family was most important to Esther. She was known to be very welcoming with an open door policy to her friends and family. She was affectionately called grandma by her grandchildren and many of their friends. Esther was a member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, the Catholic Daughters’ of America, the American Legion and VFW Auxiliaries. Esther died on Saturday, November 27, 2010, surrounded by her family at home after a lengthy battle with Parkinson’s Disease. She is survived by her husband, Jack McLaughlin, of Marshall, children Kathy (and Paul) Blad of Hector, daughter Sandra Albrecht of Ft. Collins, Co, Kellie (and Bryan) Julian of Marshall, 12 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, brothers Leonard (and Betty) Boulton, John (and Corrine) Boulton, Joan (and Harold) Regnier, sister-in-law Helen Boulton and brother-in-law Alvin Hess. She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband, Irvin, children John, Janet and Tom, son-in-law Richard Albrecht, siblings Robert Boulton, Mary Hess, Ruth Jerzak and brother-in-law Irving Jerzak.
