Evelyn Schultz was born May 15, 1925 to Emma and Gust Thooft on a farm east of Ivanhoe MN. She passed away on Wednesday, July 30th at the age of 89 at the Prairie Home Hospice House in Marshall. At the age of five, she moved to various farms in Lyon County near Russell and attended rural district county schools and later Russell High School. Following graduation from Russell High School, she worked as a bookkeeper for several years and into the first years of her marriage. On February 12, 1945 she married Harley Schultz and the two of them farmed together on the same farm near the Marshall Russell area their entire life before retiring.
Her special interests and hobbies included keeping the farm site well groomed, yard work, gardening, flowers, sewing, reading, and letter writing.
Harley passed away on August 31, 1999. Evelyn remained living on the farm for three years, then moved into Marshall in September 2002.
Evelyn is survived by daughter Coleen Frye of Marshall, Janel Schultz of Winona, and daughter-in-law Karen Schultz of Owatonna. Grandchildren Britta Fiksdal (and fiancé Brett DeJager) of Shell Lake, WI, Tami (and Bob) Krogman of Owatonna, Sherri (and Jeff) Pesta of Northfield, Corey (and Cheryl) Willert of Rosemount, Emray (and Erin) of Rapid City, SD, Arnold (and Nora) of Willmar, and Flora of Mankato. Twelve great grandchildren and many nephews, nieces, other relatives, and friends.
Evelyn is preceded in death by husband Harley, son Bob, brother Harry, parents Emma and Gust and an infant son.
