Florence V. Miller age 92 of Balaton, Mn died Sunday, January 10, 2010 at the Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Balaton. Services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, January 14, 2010 at Sillerud Lutheran Church, rural Balaton. Visitation will be from 4:00 until 8:00 PM Wednesday, January 13, 2010 at the Almlie Funeral Home in Balaton, with a prayer service at 7:00 PM. Interment will be in the Sillerud Cemetery. The Almlie Funeral Home of balaton is handling the arrangements.
Florence Violet Evelyn Miller was born May 2, 1917 to Anton and Mabel (Swan) Reinholdt on her parentâs farm in Murray County. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Sillerud Lutheran Church and attended country school. On May 29, 1987 Florence graduated with her G.E.D. certificate, of which she was extremely proud.
On June 29, 1938 Florence married Alvin Miller, held as a lawn wedding, on her parentâs farm. They made their home on a farm south of Balaton, near the Current Lake Store, until their retirement, when they moved into Balaton. She later in life moved into OâBrien Court Apartments in Tracy, MN for a short time, before becoming a resident of Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Balaton in 2002.
Florence was a life-long member of Sillerud Lutheran Church and was active in WELCA, she taught Sunday School, helped make many quilts at workdayâs, and took part in weekly Bible study. In the past she volunteered at Colonial Manor Nursing Home, was a member of the U-Go-I-Go Club, and the Ruthton Senior Citizen Center. She enjoyed gardening, both vegetable and flower, cooking, traveling, and especially spending time with her family.
On Sunday, January 10, 2010 Florence died at the Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Balaton at the age of 92.
Florence is survived by her four children, Drexel (Earl) Erickson of White Bear Lake, MN, Gayle (Neil) Schultz of Slayton, MN, Harlan (Nancy) Miller of Hopkins, MN and Ruth (Gaelyn) Gernentz of Balaton, MN; daughter-in-law, Donna Miller of Balaton, MN; twelve grandchildren, Grant (Christine) Erickson, Sean (Tracy) Miller, Randy Miller, Ryan (Melissa Tyler) Miller, Jacob (Megan) Miller, ReNae (Chris) Trebelhorn, Dawn (Pat) Polfliet, Jill (Karl) Anklam, Kimberly (John) Lightfield, Heather Miller, and Traci (Kevin) Edmundson; eighteen grandchildren, Blake, Aaron, Gabe and Thalia Trebelhorn, Tyler Amon, Shelby, Cortland, and Makenzie Polfliet, Joshua Anklam, Connor, Madeline, Maxwell, and Graham Lightfield, Liam Gernentz, Kaila, Miranda and Jenna Edmundson, and Hailey Gernentz; one sister, Inez (Robert) Wendland of Balaton, MN; many nieces, nephews and friends.
Her husband, Alvin, son, Gary, grandson, Ryan Gary, her parents, and two sisters, Ardis Goltz and Darlene Roberts, preceded her in death.
