Floribert Edmund Hoffmann was born on August 17, 1931, in Burton Township to Philip and Thekla (Hartmann) Hoffmann. He grew up on the family farm and attended Country School District 74 and St. Leo Catholic School. Floribert served in the U.S. Army from 1952 â 1954 in Newfoundland, Canada. After his honorable discharge, he returned to the Minneota area. On June 27, 1956, he was united in marriage to Claire Haertjens. The couple farmed north of Minneota until they retired and moved to Minneota in 1995. Floribert enjoyed spending time with his family, especially playing cards with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed shaking dice and socializing with his coffee friends. He believed in volunteerism and would help drive people to appointments and deliver Meals on Wheels. Floribert was a member of the U.S. American Legion and St. Edward Catholic Church.
He died on Friday, June 24, 2011, at the Minneota Manor in Minneota after a lengthy illness with cancer.
Floribert is survived by his wife, Claire, of Minneota, daughters Rita (and Warren) Regnier of Lynd, Linda (and Marvin) Determan of Marshall, Theresa (and Duane) Regnier of Lynd, Lisa (and Keith) Regnier of Lynd, 13 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, sisters Lidwina Hoffmann of Golden Valley and Phyllis (and Ed) Polman of Clarkfield, brothers Wilfred (and Marlene) Hoffmann of Marshall and Germain (and Marian) Hoffmann of Minneota. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Rosalia and Marietta Hoffmann and Eleanor Blomme and four infant siblings.
