Floyd Duane Bauer Jr. was born on January 1, 1947, in Montevideo, to Floyd Sr. and Dorothy (Volkman) Bauer. As a child, he moved with his family to Marshall where he grew up and attended school. Floyd enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served from 1966 – 1970. On July 19, 1969, he was united in marriage to Yvonne Qunell in Marshall. Floyd was a longtime employee of Great Plains Natural Gas Company. He enjoyed his job, especially the social interaction with his customers. He also enjoyed camping and watching sports, especially football and NASCAR. He enjoyed time at his lake place on Minnie Belle and spending time with his grandchildren. Floyd died on Monday, May 11, 2015, at the Avera Marshall Regional Medical Center in Marshall. He is survived by his wife, Yvonne, of Marshall, son Gregory (and Jeny) Bauer of Marshall, grandchildren Hannah, Sydney and Lucas, and son Ryan Bauer (girlfriend Jessica Tirrel) of Sioux Falls, sister Sonja Ethun of Elk River, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Steve.
