Frances Josephine (Stoks) Vanden Broecke was born on January 23, 1924, in Marshall, to William and Madeleine (Tramaseur) Stoks. She grew up and attended school in Marshall. On February 12, 1942, she was united in marriage to Cyril Vanden Broecke at Sts. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church in Taunton. The couple farmed and raised their family in rural Taunton and Minneota. In 1991, they moved to Minneota. In addition to farming, Frances worked for more than 20 years as the warehouse manager at Marshall Foods, for several years at the Minneota Bakery and was head cook at St. Edward School in Minneota. Francesâ great sense of humor and quick smile warmed many peoplesâ hearts. Many special occasions included a cake baked and decorated with Francesâ special touch. She was a creative, excellent seamstress and worked very hard all of her life. She was very generous and always willing to help those in need. Frances was a member of St. Edward Catholic Church.
She died on Friday, December 31, 2010, at the Minneota Manor in Minneota.
Frances is survived by her children Beverly (and Dick) Culshaw of Little Falls, Robert (and Kathleen) Vanden Broecke of Colorado Springs, CO, Debra (and Wes) Thompson of Alexandria, Cindy (and Ken) Wambeke of Ruthton, 10 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren (and two on the way!) siblings Donald (and Rita) Stoks of Canby, Dorothy (and Tom) Cull of Hartland, WI, Mary (and Francis) Van Hecke of Minneota, Vincent (and LaVonne) Stoks of Cottonwood, Lorraine (and Hank) Goblish of Marshall, Richard (and Jeanette) Stoks of Shakopee, sister-in-law Marie Stoks of Marshall, many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Cyril (on April 17, 2010), brothers Harold and Henry Stoks and sister Margaret Cull.
