Frances Mae (Lawson) Mercie was born on March 29, 1927, in rural Arco to George and Frances (Miller) Lawson. As a child, she moved with her family to Minneota and later to a farm near Ghent. Frances graduated from Marshall High School. On March 7, 1950, she was united in marriage to George Mercie. The couple made their home and raised their family in Marshall. Frances was very kind and generous. She provided daycare for many family and friends. She enjoyed camping, flower gardening and reading. Her faith and her family were most important to her.
Frances died on Thursday, July 28, 2016, at the Minneota Manor in Minneota. She is survived by her sons Joe Mercie of Minneapolis, George Mercie Jr. of Marshall, Lonnie (and Donna) Mercie of Vesta, Mark (and Carrie) Mercie of Balaton, grandchildren Michael, Brian, Angela, Lacie Jae, Emmie Lou, Katy and Jerry, 14 great-grandchildren, sisters Roxie Collin of Huron Lake, Grace Neu of Ohio, Connie Bonner of Michigan, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband George, son Jerry, grandson Jessie and ten siblings.
