Frances Polfliet

Francis Joseph Polfliet was born September 27, 1927 in Johnsonville Township, Redwood County, MN to John and Leonie (DeSleer) Polfliet. He was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic faith. He grew up on a farm in the Walnut Grove area. Francis was married to Joan (Qunell) on August 24, 1949 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Marshall. They made their home and raised seven children on a farm near Cottonwood until they moved to their present home in Marshall in 1973. After leaving the farm, Francis worked at the Schwan Food Co for 16 years. Francis enjoyed gardening, traveling, biking, camping and fitting a nap in whenever possible. For many, many years, Francis made rosaries that were donated to missions, churches, and whoever needed or requested one. (How many 100’s did he make?) Francis died unexpectantly on Thursday, August 23, 2012 at his home. Francis is survived by his wife, Joan of 63 years; children Beverly (Norm) Miskowiec of New Brighton, Debbie (Allan) Poncin of Circle Pines, Terry (Pam) Polfliet of Mondovi, WI, Larry (Cindy) Polfliet of Marshall, Sherri (Dan) Halverson of Eau Claire, WI, Daniel (Becky) Polfliet of Marshall, Pat (Dawn) Polfliet of Lakeville,; 20 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; brother Alex; sister Mary; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers and a sister.
