Frances Ann Swedzinski

A Requiem Funeral Mass for Frances Swedzinski, 63, of rural Lucan, will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, May 23, 2022, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye.  Visitation will take place on Sunday, May 22, 2022, from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service and Rosary at 4:00 p.m. at the Horvath Remembrance Center in Marshall.  Visitation will continue on Monday from 9:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye.  Interment will follow the service at the St Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Sleepy Eye. 

Frances Ann (Biranowski) Swedzinski was born on August 26, 1958, in Tyler, MN, to John and Clara (Citterman) Biranowski.  She grew up on a farm near Wilno and received her sacraments at St. John Cantius Catholic Church in Wilno.  Frances graduated from Ivanhoe High School in 1976.  She attended Vocational Technical School in Alexandria for Medical and Laboratory Technician training.  Frances worked as a Lab Tech at the Divine Providence Hospital in Ivanhoe for twelve years.  On August 22, 1987, she was united in marriage to Daniel Swedzinski in Wilno.  The couple moved to a farm between Lucan and Milroy where they raised their family.  Frances enjoyed farming; raising sheep and livestock.  She had a passion for gas engines and was quite talented at fixing them.  She was also a bee keeper.  Frances was most passionate about her faith and family.  She was diagnosed with a bone marrow disorder approximately 20 years ago.  This disorder progressed to leukemia in January of 2022.

Frances died on Thursday, May 19, 2022, of complications from leukemia at the Avera Marshall Regional Medical Center in Marshall.  She is survived by her husband, Daniel, of Milroy, children Maria (and Anthony) Tanata of Stewart, MN, Joseph (and Ashley) Swedzinski of Pierre, SD, Theresa (and Josh) Ireland of Jackson, MN; grandchildren Andrew, Thomas and Katherine Tanata; Gabriel, Veronica and Isabelle Swedzinski; sisters Mary, Rose, Dorothy and Lorraine, and other aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents and sister Agnes in childhood.
