Frank A. Josephson passed peacefully on Monday, February 6, 2012, at Hendricks Community Hospital. Frank was born on Sept. 18, 1921, to S. Frank and Elin (Askdal) Josephson in Minneota. He was baptized, confirmed and a lifelong member of St. Paulâs Icelandic Church. He graduated from Minneota High School in 1938. After graduation he served in the US Army Air Corps as a B-24 bomber pilot. Upon returning to Minneota in 1945, he owned and operated a trucking business, and later became a life-long farmer until his retirement in 1996. On Sept. 10, 1949, he married Helen Spears and they raised five children.
Frank was active in the community throughout his life and served many civic organizations. He was especially dedicated to the Masonic Lodge and Zuhrah Shrine fraternal orders; the Boxelder Bug Day Planning Committee; the Minneota American Legion and the VFW; the Lyon County Fair Board and St. Paulâs Lutheran Church. He was a member of The Minnesota Ditch Viewers Association and had been working on a ditch project just prior to his death.
Frank loved his family. He loved people and enjoyed talking, discussing and sharing ideas. He was interested in each person he talked with and always had an encouraging word, a gentle sense of humor and a smile. He was an avid and voracious reader of the printed word and few subjects of importance eluded him. He could be seen in Taunton most mornings with his buddies playing cards.
Frank is survived by his five children: Cathy (Sverrir Asgrimsson) Josephson of Vopnafjordur, Iceland; Michael; Cory (Steve) Palmer; Craig; and, Christy (Jim) Brewers of Minneota; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; his brother, David; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen, and two brothers, Robert and Fred.
