Frank Andrew Karolczak was born October 10, 1916, in Lake Stay Township, Lincoln County to Andrew and Frances (Gruhot) Karolczak. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John Cantius Catholic Church in Wilno. He attended county school. On October 15, 1940 he was united in marriage to Dorothy Charbonneau in Marshall. They farmed in Ivanhoe and the Wilno area until moving to Marshall. He worked as a carpenter for Hiene Miller until he retired. His wife, Dorothy, passed away in 1982. Frank became a resident of Hendricks Nursing Home in January of 2008. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards, gardening, carpentry and being with his family.
Frank passed away on Monday, April 6, 2009, at the Hendricks Nursing Home in Hendricks, MN., with his family at his side.
Frank is survived by his children, Shirley (Robert) McClain of Marshall, Roger Karolczak of San Diego, CA, David (Sue) Karolczak of Brookings, SD, Karen (Roger) Brogaard of Canby, MN, sister Pauline âPollyâ Skorczewski (Bennie) of New Ulm, sister-in-laws Marie Karolczak of Aurora, and Rose Helen Goss of Worthington, 8 grandchildren Mark, Ann, Carol, Jeremy, Preston, April, Kim and Todd, and 9 great-grandchldren Mallorie, Jacob, Isaiah, Gage, Jessica, Trevor, Jayci, Cayden and Kylee. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Dorothy, 4 sisters Maggie Groves, Mary Van Keulen, Pat Serreyn and Martha Polejewski, and 2 brothers Eugene and Mike.
