Frank E. Lessman age 87 of Tracy, MN died Saturday, July 3, 2010 at the Prairie View Health Care Center in Tracy. Services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, July 7, 2010 at Tracy Lutheran Church. Visitation will be from 4:00 until 8:00 PM Tuesday, July 6, 2010 at the Almlie Funeral Home in Tracy, with a prayer service at 7:00 PM and continuing one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday. Interment will be at the Bethel Cemetery, rural Garvin, MN. The Almlie Funeral Home of Tracy is handling the arrangements.
Frank Eugene Lessman was born August 13, 1922 to John and Josie (Knott) Lessman on a farm in Amiret Township, Lyon County, MN. He was raised on a farm north of Tracy, MN and attended country school. As a young man he worked for area farmers as a laborer, until he joined the U.S. Army in 1945. During his time in the service he served in Korea and after his honorable discharge, returned to Tracy and went to work for Herb Dove on the farm he later purchased.
On November 3, 1950 Frank married Elverta M. Triplett in the Congregational Church in Cambria, MN. They made their home on the farm north of Tracy until 2003 when he moved into OâBrien Court in Tracy.
In 1954 Frank was baptized and became a member of the Tracy Lutheran Church. He was also a member of the Tracy American Legion and Tracy VFW. Frank loved to work in his woodshop, making toys and model tractors.
In August of 2009 Frank became a resident of Prairie View Health Care Center in Tracy, where he died July 3, 2010 at the age of 87.
Frank is survived by his one daughter, Jackie (Chuck) Bartels of Minnetonka, MN; two sons, Jon (Deb) Lessman of Clear Lake, SD and Randy (Patty) Lessman of Tracy, MN; eight grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; two sisters, Edith Lessman of Sioux Falls, SD and Luella Lof of Park Rapids, MN; two brothers, Richard Lessman of Prescott Valley, AZ and William (Grace) Lessman of Laporte, MN; three sisters-in-law, Edna Lessman of Lamberton, MN, Elaine Lessman of Walnut Grove, MN and Doris Lessman of Tracy, MN; nieces, nephews and friends.
His wife, Elverta, his parents, one sister, three brothers, one sister-in-law and one brother-in-law preceded him in death.
