Gary Lee Bruns

The funeral service for Gary Bruns, 72, of Garvin, will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, August 10, 2020, at the Horvath Remembrance Center at 444 Craig Ave in Tracy. A walk through visitation will be Sunday, August 9, 2020, from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. at the Remembrance Center and continue Monday, August 10, 2020 one hour prior to service. Social distancing and occupancy limitations will be respected at all times. The service will be livestreamed at www.horvathfuneralservice.com. Interment will follow at the Tracy Community Cemetery in Tracy, MN. Gary Lee Bruns was born on April 20, 1948, in Tracy, MN, to John and Mildred (Kathman) Bruns. He grew up and attended school in Balaton and Garvin. On March 29, 1969, he was united in marriage to Debra Flor. The couple made their home and raised their family in Garvin. Gary worked for Bridgework in Slayton and other various construction and road work jobs. He later went to work for Midwest Tire in Tracy, and most recently worked in the ice cream plant for the Schwan Food Company. Gary enjoyed the outdoors. In his younger years, he enjoyed fishing, hunting and trapping. After his retirement, he took great pride in his yard work. He enjoyed mowing and tending to his property and vegetable garden. Gary died on Wednesday, August 5, 2020, at the Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls, SD, after a brief battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife, Deb, of Garvin, son Gary Jr. (and Amy) of Worthing, SD, grandchildren Tanner (fiancé Morgan) and Jenna, daughter Lesa Bruns of Wesley Chapel, FL, daughter Jody (and Dave) Foster of Wesley Chapel, FL, grandchildren Samantha Rodriguez, Taylor Foster and Dalton Foster, sister Donna DeBlieck of Boise, ID, brother Larry (and Linda) Bruns of Garvin, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Ron.
