George August DeSutter was born to Peter and Pauline (Strubbe) DeSutter January 29, 1922 in Grandview Township. George graduated from St. Eloi Catholic School and served in the United States Navy during WWII. George was a lifetime member of the Ghent American Legion Post 564. He was clerk for Grandview Township for 30 years and also served on MGT Co-op board for 12 years. George was united in marriage to Lucille Hamerlinck September 23, 1947; this union was blessed with eight children. After his military service, he returned to farm the family farm; which has been in the family for 110 years. Georgeâs sense of humor was appreciated by all, often driven by his extremely detailed story telling. He was devoted to his faith and to the St. Eloi Catholic Church, where he was baptized and confirmed. He participated in and enjoyed sporting events of all kinds; including rolle bolle and baseball. He was an avid follower of the Minnesota Twins and Vikings, but his first love was watching his grandchildren play a variety of sports. He also thoroughly enjoyed many fishing trips to Northern Minnesota.
