George J. Jacob was born on February 27, 1937, in Marshall, to Gerard and Elizabeth (Doom) Jacob. After 6th grade, George began working on the family farm with his father. He was drafted in the U.S. Army and served during the Korean War. After his honorable discharge, he returned to the family farm. In 1968, he was united in marriage to Madeline Dhaene. Shortly after the marriage, George began working at True Value. He later began his own business; George J. Jacob Construction. After Madelineâs death in 1991, George was united in marriage to Rosemary (Susie) Kruckenberg in 1992. George enjoyed camping and spending time around campfires and with family. He also enjoyed playing with (and irritating) the cat and dog. He was most fond of work and visiting. George was a member of the American Legion, Eagles Club and the Rawhide Rover Camping Club.
George died on Thursday, October 22, 2009, at the Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls after a brief illness. He is survived by his wife, Susie, of Marshall, five step-children from his first marriage and two step-children from his second marriage, many step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren, siblings Dolores (and George) Vierstraete of Marshall, Jeanette Bestland of Brooklyn Park, Robert (and Lois) Jacob of Spicer, Donald (and Bonnie) Jacob of Tracy, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Madeline, one step-daughter, Jo Ann Anderson, one sister, Marian Jacob, one nephew, John Jacob and one step-granddaughter Kay Ann Kruckenberg.
