Funeral services for Gerald Brandon, 61, of Marshall, will be held at a later date.
Gerald was born on February 5, 1951, in Chicago, IL, to James and Alice (Donaldson) Brandon. As a young child, he moved with his family to Kalamazoo, MI, where he grew up and graduated from high school. Jerry enlisted in the U.S. Navy in the Nuclear Power Program and served for 11 years as a Nuclear Machinist Mate on submarine duty. While stationed in Hawaii, he assisted his wife at the time, Diane S. Brandon, in running a small restaurant called Smileyâs Pizza, in the seaside community of Waianae. Their daughter, Nicole, was born during this time and she is currently living in Tacoma, WA, working as both a nanny and a certified small pet massage therapist.
After leaving the Navy, Jerry pursued his higher education at Embry-Riddle University and then received an MBA from the University of Notre Dame His degrees led him to several jobs over the years as a Maintenance Engineer. Since retiring, Jerry developed an interest in online trading and maintaining his interest in sports, especially Notre Dame Football.
Jerry died on Saturday, March 31, 2012, at the Avera Marshall Regional Medical Center in Marshall. He is survived by his daughter, Nicole, his âadoptedâ niece Juneau Paulsen, âadoptedâ nephews Kelly and Davis Paulsen, and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
